Taking care of your forest helps protect its value and lets it thrive. With a solid plan, your forest can grow better timber, lower safety risks, meet licence and scheme rules, and stay healthy for years to come.
For over 40 years, Green Belt has managed forests throughout Ireland. We help farmers, landowners, forest owners, and public bodies improve forest performance, protect long-term value, and ensure each woodland is cared for at every stage.

Forestry Management
A forest needs regular management to stay healthy, meet requirements, and keep its value.
Green Belt offers forest management plans for owners who want a better understanding of their forest and what actions to take over time. A good plan helps you see crop condition, growth, access, timber potential, market timing, road needs, thinning options, and future harvesting value.
Our foresters offer different levels of management support based on what you need. This might be a broad overview using current maps and remote data, or a detailed site visit by one of our professional foresters. Our goal is to give you practical information so you can make good decisions about your forest.
Green Belt also prepares 10-year management plans that meet Forest Service requirements. These plans review your forest after it is established, point out any work needed, and outline the next steps for long-term care. They also help you estimate future timber volumes and earning potential.
Whether you need thinning, road planning, clearfell, replanting, maintenance, or insurance, Green Belt can support your forest at every stage.

Measure Carbon and Biodiversity
By measuring carbon and biodiversity, forest owners and organisations can see the real natural value of their woodland or green investment.
Green Belt can measure carbon capture, forest growth, biodiversity, and future potential for forestry and land projects. This information helps with asset planning, sustainability reports, offset projects, and long-term woodland care.
By accurately measuring the carbon and biodiversity of your forest, you can rest assured that your forest meets every sustainability and regulatory criteria, and even open up additional earning opportunities.
GIS Mapping & Lidar Services
Accurate mapping gives forest owners, landowners, and project teams a better understanding of their land.
Green Belt uses GIS and lidar technology to survey forests, woodlands, and open land. Our in-house team processes the data and presents it in a clear, practical way to support forestry applications, land planning, site management, and long-term decisions.
These services help identify forest growth and condition, as well as a number of areas that need attention. They are also useful for wind and solar projects, farm planning, risk assessment, and broader land management.
Green Belt creates detailed maps for forestry applications that meet Forest Service requirements, giving you accurate information that you can trust.

Wind Farm Consultancy
Forestry locations are often well-suited for hosting wind farms, but they require careful planning and expert forestry advice.
Green Belt offers advice on the forestry side of wind energy projects, from early site checks to harvesting, replanting, and working with landowners. We can identify which forest areas will be affected by turbines and supporting infrastructure, assess standing timber, assist with ecological reports, and guide you through the steps needed before development begins.
Our services include lidar surveys, timber valuation, mapping, harvest management, timber sales, finding replacement land, and getting replanting approvals. Thanks to our strong relationships across Ireland, Green Belt can also help coordinate between landowners, forest owners, neighbours, and wind energy developers.
Green Belt gives project teams the forestry expertise they need to manage risk, protect value, and keep projects moving forward.
ESB Compensation claims
If part of your land cannot be planted because of an ESB power line, you may be entitled to compensation.
Green Belt helps landowners prepare ESB compensation claims for eligible 10kV and 38kV lines. You can claim for loss of crop, loss of forestry premium, including solicitor fees up to €850. The amount depends on the area affected and land value, with the land part based on 75% of the pro-rata purchase price.
Green Belt can prepare the map you need, work out your claim amount, collect Forest Service information, and work with your chosen solicitor. If your claim is approved, compensation is paid directly to you as a lump sum.
If an ESB line has reduced how much of your land you can plant, Green Belt can help you find out if you can claim and handle the process for you.
